KATE WENDT

Kate Wendt is a distinguished fine artist whose work transcends traditional painting by capturing the ethereal essence of dance through fluidity and motion. Drawing on her extensive background in design, architecture, and business, she brings a dynamic, innovative approach to the fine art world—one that resonates deeply with art lovers and collectors alike.
From an early age, Wendt was captivated by the expressive potential of movement, particularly through dance. This fascination evolved into a signature style that harnesses the properties of paint to communicate rhythm, emotion, and energy. Each piece is marked by vibrant hues and a rhythmic cadence, inviting viewers into a tranquil yet immersive sensory experience.
After earning her degree in design in Chicago, Wendt embarked on a 38-year career as a Design Director for architectural firms in Chicago, Kansas City, and Boston. Throughout this time, she continued her artistic studies, delving into painting, photography, jewelry design, and fabric design. Her professional expertise includes designing logos, graphics, and custom textiles for commercial clients, further refining her keen eye for composition and balance. Now retired, she dedicates herself to painting full-time, channeling her passion for Argentine tango—studied since 1999—into artwork that seamlessly merges dance and abstraction.

Wendt’s dedication to pushing the limits of the painting medium is evident in her distinctive compositions. Her pieces have been exhibited at the Morean Art Center Members Show, Tampa Regional Arts Center in Hyde Park, and the Warehouse Arts District in St. Petersburg, as well as in the Dali Museum volunteers show. Her online exhibits include showcases with the Florida Watercolor Society and the Las Laguna Art Gallery in Laguna Beach, California.
Guided by a lifelong love of dance and design, Wendt’s practice continues to explore the boundaries between control and spontaneity, resulting in art that transforms movement into visual poetry. By fusing her diverse creative influences, she invites viewers to experience a world of color, texture, and motion—one in which every brushstroke carries the vitality of dance.
