KATE WENDT

I am a painter and former design leader in major architectural and interior design firms; training in multiple disciplines shaped my sense of composition, materiality, and spatial thinking and continues to inform how I structure color, form, and surface. I have shown in local and national exhibitions.
Inspired by modernist painters—especially the Abstract Expressionists—my paintings investigate the tension between abstraction and suggestion: layered paint, collage, and surface manipulation create textured, tactile fields where color, texture, and motion converge. Working experimentally with acrylic, watercolor, gouache, oil, cold wax, and mixed media, I balance disciplined structure with spontaneous mark‑making to develop an evolving visual language that sits between memory and observation.
