Kate Wendt (b. Chicago) received her degree in design from the Harrington College of Design. She worked as a commercial interior designer and Director of Interiors for 37 years at architectural firms in Chicago, Kansas City, and Boston. She continued to study the arts including painting, photography, jewelry design, and fabric design throughout her career, in addition to designing logos, graphics, custom carpeting, and fabrics for commercial clients. She retired from her Interior Design career and relocated  to Saint Petersburg, Florida where she continues to follow her passions for painting. She has studied modern and jazz dance and yoga since the early 1960’s and began to focus in on Argentine Tango dancing in 1999. Her paintings are influenced by her training in art, design, architecture and dance.

 

The work has been exhibited in the Morean Art Center, The Arts Exchange Saint Petersburg, and the Tampa Regional Arts Center. Recently her work has been showed at the Warehouse Arts District Gallery as a part of the Exceptional Abstraction show.  She is a volunteer at the Dali Museum and has exhibited her work in their Holiday Arts Bazaar.
